A Message from Sheriff Richard K. Jones

Sheriff's Citizen Academy

Welcome to the Butler County Sheriff’s Website!
Since becoming Sheriff on January 2nd, 2005 I have been dedicated to bringing the citizens of Butler County a Sheriff’s Office that they can be proud of.

I have adopted the motto “Spectemur Agendo” which translates to “Let us be judged by our Actions”. I believe in accountability, responsibility, and a certain “esprit de corps”.

“Sacrifice, Duty, Honor, Justice, Vigilance, and Courage are the foundation that will define this Sheriff’s Office.”

Recognizing the need for a community based Women’s Self Defense course the Butler County Sheriff’s Office created a team of specialists to research and develop a program that fit the needs of the community as well as being effective in real world conditions.

This program is called S.T.A.R.T. (Safety Through Active Response Training)
