Sheriff Richard K. Jones Sends Letters To Area School Boards, President Trump and Ohio Governor

Sheriff Richard K. Jones sent letters out today to every school board in Butler County, Ohio, the Ohio Governor and President Trump. He is requesting that the school boards start making changes to keep our kids safer in our schools. Hanover Township Woman Charged For Abusing Three-Year Old Girl

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on Thursday, March 8th, at approximately 7 AM, Hanover Township emergency crews and Butler County detectives responded to 4050 Shank Road for an unconscious child. Upon arrival, the child, 3 year old Hanna Wesche, was unresponsive, had labored breathing and there were obvious bruises about her head and face.

Hanna was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital and then flown to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. After further investigation, detectives and hospital personnel noted additional bruising on the child’s body. Jones reports that on 01/30/18 at approximately 1828 hours, the Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call requesting assistance for someone that had been shot. Ross Township police and EMS were dispatched to 978 Hine Road, Ross Township, where they found Austin Hensley, 18 year old male, deceased from a gunshot wound.

Ross Township Police requested assistance from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, which responded to the scene. Investigators interviewed Zachary Welsh, 17 year old male, who admitted to shooting Austin Hensley during a robbery attempt.  Zachary Welsh was charged with Murder (F1), Aggravated Robbery (F1), and Tampering with Evidence (F3) and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.

During this investigation, Josh Taylor, 17 year old male, has also been charged with Theft of a Firearm (F3).

“It is always tragic when life is lost, especially when everyone involved is so young” said Sheriff Jones.
