Jones reports that at approximately 2:30 PM this afternoon, students at New Miami High School reported that a male subject made threats to shoot up the school via social media. Deputies and Detectives responded to the school and upon further investigation, it was discovered that there was a concerning photo sent directly to the two students through social media. There was no threat made toward the school.  New Miami initiated a controlled release of students as a precaution and for their protection. “We take these situations very serious. The school did a great job and everyone acted quickly.  The most important thing is that all those kids are safe and got home to their families,” said Sheriff Jones

Detectives are currently following up on this investigation. Names of students or the suspect will not be released at this time.

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on January 6^th 2019, at approximately 0936 hours, Deputies along with Hanover Township and Reily Township EMS were dispatched to a single occupant vehicle crash along Reily Millville Road just east of Cochran Road. Driver of vehicle traveled left of center striking a tree on the north side of the roadway.

The driver was transported to landing zone waiting for Care Flight. Prior to Care Flights arrival the driver pass away. Cause of the accident is still under investigation and name is being held pending all family notified.

We have been first responders since the 1800’s and that is not going to change any time soon,” said Sheriff Jones.
