$5,000, Guns, and Heroin Seized by BURN Agents

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) Agents successfully executed a search warrant at 2303 Oxford-State Road in Middletown, Ohio this morning, seizing about $5,000, heroin, multiple guns and drug paraphernalia.

The home, located within a school zone, contained approximately one ounce of heroin, $5,000 in cash, a drug press, multiple scales and a cutting agent for the heroin.

Accompanied by the Butler County SWAT team, agents entered the residents shortly after midnight on June 12, 2014. After securing the residents, agents arrested two males.

Arrested was Charles Lewis, 25, of Middletown. Lewis was charged with Permitting Drug Abuse, a Felony of the Fifth degree. Also, arrested was Bryant Greenwood, 24, of Middletown. Greenwood was charged with Trafficking Heroin, a Felony of the First Degree, and Possession of Drugs, a Felony of the Second Degree. Both are housed at the Middletown City Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.

Undercover Drug Agents Spend Day Making Multiple Arrests

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports undercover agents from the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) Task Force were quite active May 08, 2014 with three separate investigations netting four arrests (including an inmate just as he was being released, and his mother) and the seizure of thousands of dollars-worth of illegal drugs (heroin, crack cocaine, and ICE Methamphetamine), 1 vehicle, a handgun, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. Following is a synopsis of the daily activity:

Around 12 am, with assistance from City of Hamilton Vice Unit, agents executed a search warrant at 872 Gordon Smith Blvd #6, Hamilton, Ohio. Arrested was Keith Goldsmith age 35 of the same address, charged with Felony Possession of Drugs. Agents seized ¾ ounce of crack cocaine and ¼ ounce heroin, other items of drug paraphernalia and a 2006 Dodge Charger. Agents anticipate additional charges in the future.
Around 5 pm, a search warrant was conducted at 1950 Harvard Street, which netted the seizure of 4 ounces of “ICE” (Methamphetamine), a handgun and other items of drug paraphernalia. Arrested was Shawna N. Mason, age 31 of the same address with multiple felony drug charges.

Agents Conduct Heroin/Fentanyl Bust Last Night

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) Agents successfully concluded a week-long heroin trafficking investigation with an arrest last night and the seizure of drugs, money, and a handgun.

After receiving information of a heroin trafficking operation in the Fairfield, Ohio, area, agents have had Stefan A. Rutledge, age 32, of Cincinnati, under surveillance for about a week. Early evening yesterday (April 28), after observing Rutledge complete what appeared to be a drug transaction on Ramblewood Dr., Fairfield, agents attempted to have his vehicle stopped with the aid of marked patrol units. Undercover Drug Agents Record Very Active Weekend

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports undercover agents from the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) Task Force were quite active this past weekend with four separate investigations netting four arrests and the seizure of thousands of dollars-worth of illegal drugs, 3 vehicles, a handgun, and a double barreled, sawed-off shotgun. Following is a synopsis of the weekend activities:

Friday, March 7, around 3:30 pm…with assistance from, the U.S. Postal Inspectors, a controlled delivery of a package led to an eventual targeted traffic stop along State Route 127 near the Hamilton Power Station along the Third Street Extension. Robert Wolfram, Jr., age 26, of Greenwood Ave., Hamilton, was arrested and charged with felony Trafficking and felony Possession Drug charges. Agents seized 2 pounds of high-grade marijuana (street value of about $10,000).

Saturday night, March 8, around 9:30 pm, a targeted traffic stop on U.S Route 27 near State Route 128 in Ross Township, and a subsequent search at a Scott Street, Shandon, residence netted approx. 2 ounces of crystal meth (valued at $3,000), seizure of a small handgun, a sawed-off, double barreled shotgun, and a 1994 Chevy Cavalier. Extensive Investigation Breaks up Major Meth Ring in Butler County

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that agents from the BURN (Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics) task force have broken up a major methamphetamine ring. The several-month-long meth investigation has culminated with the arrest of seven (7) individuals, all connected with the ring. The investigation has included executing of search warrants, obtaining and executing arrest warrants, traffic stops (with an ensuing pursuit and a K-9 track of person attempting to flee), the discovery and dis-assembly of a meth lab, seizure of meth (a.k.a. “Ice”) product, seizure of 5 “long guns” and 3 “hand guns.”

Sheriff Jones is quite pleased with the results of this investigation that has been on-going and simultaneous with a separate BURN investigation into Marijuana trafficking – the subject of yesterday’s press conference. “Illegal drug activity will not be tolerated in Butler County,” said the Sheriff. “If you want to play that game and bring, make, or sell your poison here, you’re likely to get caught. I would think that people would start to get that message,” he concluded.

During these investigations, BURN was assisted by several agencies, including: Oxford Police, Oxford Township Police, Preble County Sheriff’s Office, and Ohio BCI&I.

Robert Murray, age 39, 64 Lakeside Dr., Hamilton (Possession of Drugs); and David Ables, age 49, 7559 Brookville Rd. (Possession of Drugs) – both arrested on February 7, 2014 after a traffic stop and search warrant
Vernis Newton, Jr., age 29, 3468 Cotton Run Rd (multiple charges including Possession of Drugs, Assault on Police Dog, resisting Arrest, Breaking and Entering, + more); Ashley Vanwinkle, age 29, 5032 College Corner (Drug Paraphernalia and Obstructing Official Business); and Micah Vanwinkle, age 38, Brownsville, IN (Failure to Comply, Obstructing, and attempted Felonious Assault) – all arrested after traffic stop and pursuit on February 8, 2014.
Cody Webb, age 28, 205 Gordon Ave., Hamilton (Illegal Possession of Chemicals for Manufacture of Drugs and Possession of Drugs) arrested on February 11 – picked up on a warrant.
Michael Wisecup, age 55, 6718 Morning Sun Rd. — where the meth lab was found–(Illegal Possession of Chemicals for Manufacture of Drugs) – arrested February 12, 2014 at his residence.

Drug Investigation Leads Agents to Arrest and Large Marijuana Seizure

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that agents from the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) Task Force, along with United States Postal Inspections, executed a search warrant on November 21, 2013 around 5:30 pm, at 7820 Plantation Drive in West Chester, Ohio. Agents were able to track packages containing drugs which were being sent to a resident of Plantation Drive from a southern California point of origin.

Agents seized a little over four pounds of marijuana which had been sent through the mail. Once agents entered the residence, they also discovered a significant marijuana grow operating in the basement.
