Butler County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Services (ERS) Team Deployed To Baton Rouge Louisiana

Jones reports in the evening of August 29, 2021 the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Services Team (ERS) was called up to assist first responders in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and on Monday August 30, 2021 at 0600hrs. The ERS Team was deployed. The effects of Hurricane Ida has overwhelmed their resources in Louisiana in aiding the community and the Sheriff’s Office has responded to assist when and where it is requested.  The Sheriff’s Office ERS Team’s primary operation during this mission will be swift water rescue.

Twenty (20) deputies consisting of nineteen (19) ERS and One (1) Critical Incident Manager will be deployed.  The Sheriff’s Office Equipment was also requested to assist in utilizing this operation.  Eight (8) vehicles to haul personnel and supplies, four (4) boats, one (1) side by side, one (1) command trailer and an ERS truck.

Butler County Sheriff’s Office personnel will be deployed for sixteen (16) days. This operation is funded by the Federal Government.

Deputies were called to the lake at Land of Illusions Amusement Park located at 8762 Thomas Road in Madison Township for a report of a juvenile drowning. Upon arrival the Madison Township EMS and the Land of Illusions staff were attempting to locate a female juvenile, later identified as fourteen year old Mykiara Jones from Dayton, Oho who had went underwater at approximately 1700hrs.

The Land of Illusions lifeguard located her at approximately 1730hrs. Jones was immediately pulled from the water and Madison Township EMS began treatment. Care flight arrived on scene and transported her to Dayton Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
“This is a tragedy no parent should have to endure. These are the calls first responders dread and have difficulty dealing with. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family,” states Sheriff Jones.

On June 15 during the early morning hours, the Butler County Regional Narcotics Task Force (BURN), along with the FBI and several local agencies executed multiple search warrants throughout Butler County.

Four in the City of Hamilton, one in Oxford, one in Fairfield and one in Middletown. In all, 800 grams of Fentanyl, 51 pounds of marijuana and $8000.00 in cash was seized.
