Fatal Overnight Crash in Morgan Township
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that Deputies and Emergency rescue crews were dispatched to State Route 129 just west of Garner Road in Morgan Township around 6:20 am today after a passerby reported seeing a vehicle that had apparently traveled off the roadway and into a field. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered the crashed vehicle approximately 80 feet off the roadway, with the driver, believed to be the sole occupant, laying in the field after being ejected.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Nicole Sefton, age 18, of Morgan Township, was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on State Route 129. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, and tumbled over, ejecting the driver, before coming to rest in the field. The actual time of the crash has not been determined, but believed to have happened sometime overnight. Sefton, reportedly a Miami University student, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Butler County Coroner’s Office. The time and exact cause of the crash remain under investigation by the Sheriff’s S.T.A.R.T. (Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team) Unit and the Butler County Coroner’s Office.
