Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Services (ERS) Team was out in the inclement weather yesterday assisting stranded motorists and elderly citizens in need when called to respond to 1676 Sipps Ln. in St. Clair Township. The ERS Team arrived to assist patrol units who were alerted that a female subject, identified as Rhonda Bush was discovered face down in a pond located at the rear of the property.

The Butler County Emergency Response Services (ERS) Team equipped with ice rescue equipment, assisted Road Patrol and the St. Clair Township Life Squad pulling the victim from the water and carrying her approximately 300 yards out of treacherous terrain to the life squad. The victim’s body temperature dropped to a dangerous level and CPR was initiated. Bush was transported to Ft. Hamilton Hospital for further treatment and life saving measures. Detectives were called to investigate the scene.

Sheriff Jones is adamant that law enforcement response should be more than just arriving on scene and waiting. Time is of the essence in these situations. The Sheriff’s Office has the equipment and the training. No wait necessary.
