Motorcycle Patrol Unit
The Motorcycle Patrol Unit is used for all phases of traffic control including routine patrol and specialized traffic details. The unit can be used for patrol purposes, congested traffic situations, funeral escorts, V.I.P. details, shopping center patrol, sporting events, parades, various charitable events, and the Butler County Fair. It is composed of four Kawasaki KZ1000 motorcycles, and three Harley Davidson Electra Glides.
The unit is supervised by Lt. Mike Nutt.
In 2011
In addition to routine functions, the Motor Unit provided escorts for charitable events such as the Special Olympics Torch Run, Hospice of Hamilton Charity Ride, Butler County Foster Child Enrichment Charity Ride, and the 9-11 Hero’s Ride. Other rides include the Fallen Officer Memorial in London, Ohio, Edgewood School Bicycle Escorts, Memorial Day and 4th of July parades, and the National “Police Night Out”. The Motor Unit also escorted several collegiate football teams to/from Miami University. The Motor Unit participated in several funeral escorts involving soldiers that were killed overseas. It was an honor and privilege to escort these distinguished men and woman to their final resting place.
