2/12/2021 UPDATE
Late Thursday afternoon, 2/11/2021, the Hamilton Police Department received a report that Thelma Blackwood was missing from her home on Cleveland Avenue in Hamilton.
Officers from HPD immediately began an investigation and search. By late afternoon, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and their ERS (Emergency Response Services) unit joined in the search. The search for Ms. Blackwood continued through the night.
At daylight, a Butler County Sheriffs helicopter spotted what appeared to be a body in the river less than a mile from Mrs. Blackwood’s home. Rescuers on foot were able to locate and confirm the individual is deceased. A recovery operation is underway and further details will be released upon positive identification of the deceased.
