Deputies Conduct Address Verification On Sex Offenders

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones takes extra precaution when it comes to registered sex offenders in his County. Although periodically throughout the year checks are made on registered sex offenders, annually, the Sheriff has several teams of Deputies organized to conduct address verifications on registered sex offenders in Butler County for one day.

There are 550 registered sex offenders in Butler County.  There were 5 teams of 2 person units conducting the verifications throughout the day. This operation is vital in keeping our community safe by keeping track of where these sex offenders are. Of the almost 200 verifications, 6 are being investigated by our SORN Division.  Sheriff Jones states “If registered sex offenders are not complying with court orders, they will go to jail, no questions.” 

Prior to the address verification checks, the Sheriff conducts a uniform inspection check on sworn personnel to make sure the employees maintain a professional image and equipment is up to date.  The Sheriff runs a paramilitary operation making sure uniforms are clean, shoes are shined and all the equipment on their duty belts are operational and maintained.   The patrol units were also inspected to  make sure all equipment is operational and up to date.  “We want to maintain a professional image.  If we can’t respect ourselves how can we expect others to?” Said Sheriff Jones
