Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that yesterday, a student of Lakota East High School and an Edgewood Freshman were charged for posting threatening type pictures and videos on their social media sites.

Both students were charged with misdemeanor inducing panic.  “I cannot stress enough how serious we take threats against schools or students, implied or direct.  I encourage parents to talk to your kids about using good judgement on social media sites. One juvenile posted a video of a gun and the other student’s post stated he had ‘murder on his mind’.  We will file criminal charges every time something like this happens,” said Sheriff Jones.

Both students were charged in the Butler County Juvenile Court.  The incidents were separate and not connected to each other. School officials were notified immediately.
