Subject Assaults Deputy And K-9
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that yesterday, at approximately 3:30 PM, deputies were dispatched to the Speedway gas station at Oxford State and South Main Street in Lemon Township for a suspicious male subject. Witnesses reported that the male was acting strange, shouting and talking to himself walking around the parking lot with no shoes or coat.

Two witnesses on scene jumped in and assisted Deputy Davenport in subduing Mr. Dennis. He was charged with obstructing official business, a 5th degree felony and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor of the 4th degree. He was transported to Atrium Medical Center for evaluation.
There are more charges coming. Deputy Davenport was grateful that the witnesses did not hesitate to jump in and assist in detaining this subject who was extremely combative. “This guy obviously has some serious issues. I am just glad we got to him before he hurt someone else. This situation could have been much worse. It is a good feeling to know that the good citizens in this county have our backs like those two did. The most important thing is the good Samaritans, the deputy and the K-9 are fine,” said Sheriff Jones.
