 Former Corrections Officer Charged With Bribery

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that former Corrections Officer Brandon Moore has been arrested and charged with bribery, a third degree felony.  Mr. Moore is accused of bringing in several illegal items into the Butler County Correctional Facility.  These items include cell phones, miscellaneous tools, and protein powder.

A routine cell search was conducted recently and a cell phone was discovered in the pod where Officer Moore was assigned.  This led to an extensive investigation with correctional staff, inmates and all the pods located in the facility. Detectives worked diligently on this case that led to the discovery that Officer Moore was responsible for bringing items to inmates in exchange for money.  “It is never easy when you have to investigate one of your own. We are, and should be, held to a higher accountability.  He knew the rules, he knew better, and he did it anyway,” said Detective Sergeant Ed Tanner.

More charges could be added in the near future. “This guy obviously had no respect for himself or the safety of his co-workers.  Now, he will be on the other side of the bars he once guarded, and he deserves it,” stated  Sheriff Jones.
