Sheriff Jones Prioritizing Safety On Halloween
Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on Thursday and Friday evening during Trick or Treat hours, deputies will be handing out goodies to the kids as well as patrolling the areas in the county where registered sex offenders reside.
Several deputies will patrol residential areas during the event times in an effort to ensure the safety of the children. Deputies will have their overhead lights activated while patrolling inside the residential areas to indicate they have candy for the children. The Sheriff would like to remind everyone to be mindful of basic safety measures for the evening to include:
- Wear reflective clothing
- Have a working flashlight
- Pay close attention to traffic when crossing streets
- Deputies will pull off to the side of the road to pass out candy, do not let children walk into the street to the cruisers
- Check candy for contraband before letting children consume it
