Mother, Son Arrested After Undercover Drug Operation
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that a mother and her son are both housed at the Butler County Jail after being arrested last evening during an undercover drug bust operation. Lavonda Baker, age 49, of Imlay Avenue, Hamilton, was a passenger in a van driven by her son, Chad Baker, age 22, of Highland Avenue, Hamilton. Both were active participants in an undercover drug transaction in a parking lot in the 800 block of High Street in Hamilton, around 6:30 pm last evening.
As Baker’s vehicle was approached in the parking lot by undercover and marked Sheriff’s vehicles, he attempted to flee, and used his van to strike two undercover vehicles multiple times before he was stopped. Chad Baker was arrested and charged with second degree felonies of Trafficking in Drugs, Possession of Drugs, and three counts of Felonious Assault. Passenger Lavonda Baker, a participant in the drug transaction, was found to have a loaded handgun in her possession. She possessed a Concealed Carry Permit, which was confiscated. She has been charged with a one count of second degree felony Trafficking in Drugs. Also recovered from the van were 140 Oxycodone pills and a Gerber machete.
