Numerous Reports of Thefts from Vehicles in Hanover Township
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones states that his office is investigating numerous reports of thefts from vehicles that have occurred over the last few weeks in Hanover Township. Between March 24 and April 15, 9 individual reports from that area have been received, listing 17 different victims (some with multiple vehicles). The thefts have occurred during the overnight hours, and the overwhelming majority of incidents involve thefts from unlocked vehicles. The thief (or thieves) have taken all sorts of electronic equipment/devices (gps, computers, laptops, etc.), along with briefcases, backpacks, wallets, sunglasses, money, and some weapons. These incidents seem to center around Minton Road, Mormon Road, and Stillwell-Beckett Road areas.
“It’s unfortunate that these thefts are occurring,” said Sheriff Jones. “At the same time, people have to realize that you shouldn’t leave valuables in plain sight, and in an unlocked vehicle. My Detectives are working hard to find the person, or persons, responsible. I encourage everyone to keep your vehicles locked, and take your valuables inside the house at night,” Jones concluded.

The Sheriff’s Office has recently received similar multiple reports from Liberty Township, but not anywhere near the volume of reports generated from Hanover Township. It is not believed that the Hanover Township and Liberty Township incidents are related.
