Two dogs were saved from the cold last night after Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones personally received information indicating the dogs had been left out in the cold for several days. Apparently, their owner had been recently evicted from a residence in the 500 block of North 7th Street in Hamilton, and the dogs had been left behind. Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dog Warden Julie Flanagan was dispatched to the area shortly after 6 pm yesterday. “Spanky” and “Leila” were soon located, reportedly cold and very scared. The dogs were fed and watered, and taken to the Animal Friends Humane Society shelter, where they are currently being cared for.
