Dog Owner Located and Charged
On Friday, September 27th, a Butler County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dog Warden was dispatched to Navaho Street, in the city of Middletown, to investigate an abandoned canine. Upon arrival, the Deputy Dog Warden located the dog emaciated and in obvious distress. The dog, a white pit bull named Dee, (photos below) was confiscated and taken to the Butler County Animal Friends Humane Society, where veterinary care was provided.
A detective, from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Unit, joined the investigation which tracked down several family members of the dog’s owner and witness statements were obtained. Subsequently, the dog’s owner, Bert Brashear, was located and charged with Cruelty to Animals and Failure to License the dog. Charges were filed through Middletown Municipal Court.
