Week-long Crime Spree Fueled by Drugs Ends with Arrest
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that Steven Flanary, 10/15/82 from Hamilton, was taken into custody late Friday afternoon 5/17/2013 after a week-long crime spree throughout Butler County.
The crime spree started on May 11th when Tony Wright came out of her bedroom to find her purse and vehicle had been stolen by Flanary. Wright’s vehicle was later recovered after Flanary abandoned it. Warrants were issued for Flanary’s arrest.
On Thursday, May 14th Kenneth Dean was contacted when someone, later identified as Steven Flanary, was writing checks on Mr. Dean’s account. The checks were stolen from Mr. Dean’s home.

Flanary struck again on May 17th when Steven Cearly awoke to find his vehicle and credit cards had been stolen by Flanary. Flanary used the credit cards to make several purchases. Detectives and Warrants Deputies tracked Flanary throughout the day on Friday and took him into custody as he pulled into a parking lot in Ross, driving the stolen vehicle. Flanary is currently being held in the Butler County Jail on multiple felony charges.
Sheriff Jones is pleased with the persistence and dedication shown by the Detective and Warrants Division.
