Jones reports that Deputies and emergency rescue crews were dispatched to Smith Road near the intersection of Goos Road in St. Clair Township shortly after 2 am this morning for a single-vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation indicates that Chad T. Smith, age 19, of Somerville, was driving a 2002 GMC pickup truck southbound on Smith Road just north of the intersection with Goos Road. He apparently lost control, crossing the centerline and traveling off the left side of the roadway striking a guardrail. The vehicle then went off the right side of the roadway into a ditchline, rolling onto its side, then crossed back over the road striking the guardrail again. Smith walked to a nearby residence and asked for help. He was transported by Air Care to University Hospital in Cincinnati with an apparent head laceration. The incident remains under investigation.
