Call for Life Squad Ends In Arrest

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports the arrest of a Hamilton man that began with a life squad call.

On 12-21-2011, at about 7:20 p.m., Butler County Sheriff’s Deputies responded, along with St. Clair life squad, to 2318 Hamilton Eaton Road, lot 36, for a “non-breather” call. Upon arrival deputies and life squad members found James Hubbard with a slight pulse and shallow breathing. The resident, Cody Schwegmann, who is currently out on bond for a Felony 1, Trafficking in Drugs, advised deputies that Hubbard had been in the bathroom for some time and he had to break open the door to get to Hubbard.

Agents from the Butler County Sheriff’s Regional Narcotics (BURN) taskforce asked deputies to secure the location while they typed a search warrant for the residence. Schwegmann advised deputies that he would sign a consent to search form. BURN agents located approximately a ½ ounce of heroin inside Schwegmann’s vehicle. Schwegmann had had the keys to the vehicle in his pocket; but, he refused to admit the heroin belonged to him. Schwegmann was arrested for Permitting Drug Abuse, felony 5, and transported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Correctional Complex. More charges will be forth coming.
