I just wanted to make a post thanking everyone who has responded on my view of the illegal immigration problem we’re faced with here in Butler County and the nation as a whole. Recently, I have been on many TV and radio programs trying to get my message out and judging by the volume of calls, emails, and comments the message is getting heard!
When I brought this subject to the publics attention, I felt that many shared my views, but the overwhelming positive response is greater than even I expected! I believe that laws are meant to protect us and I will do what is necessary to enforce them without bias. For those who read this and wonder what I’m all about, the Cincinnati Enquirer did a pretty good article on me in January which can be read HERE.
Horray for you. You have a staunch supporter behind you here in NJ which has the same problems with the illegal aliens as Ohio and the rest of the country.
If you have a petition please add my name and address to it. Like yourself I back the president on most issues but this bit w/the aliens has GOT TO STOP and I mean NO AMNISTY for those already here. Since when do we REWARD those for a committing a crime by issuing a greencard?
Keep sending them home and beef up the borders. Spend more on border patrols then cloning!

Please help us! I Look at the illeagel immigrants working next to me. I think gee! They do the work that americans will not do. But, Then I think. Goosh! My neighbor Joe use to work next to me. Besides that. Why do I have to obey the law? Lets close 43 of the 46 Consulates of Mexico. It seems that those Consulates have impunity to our laws as well. If you have the energy to protect us. Thanks for standing up for us. Hopefully the Feds will forward you bill to the Mexican government. If every state and local law enforcement offical acted as you have the Federal government would be forced to do their duty and protect our borders.
I have a gripe with Mr. Jones views on illegal aliens. I repect his right to have an opinion or views although I do not entirely agree with them. As the Sheriff it is his duty to enforce the law and he is given some leeway in how he does it. I do not think that focusing attentions on this particular topic is particularly going to help. The claims of racism on this blog are enough evidence that many citizens feel offended and believe that the sheriff is a racist. While I seriously doubt Mr. Jones is a racist I feel that this initiative could be handled in a more diplomatic manner. Mr. Jones, unlike myself, may not be so well versed in the ways of diplomacy and foreign relations, so I forgive him for his error in judgement in putting up illegal alien signs and starting an initiative that may cause vigilanteism and has caused discussions that themselves are extremely racist and offensive.
A review of crime statistics in Butler County would likely show that there are other areas which Mr. Jones could focus his attention to better provide adequate law enforcement. It is my opinion that devoting any further county expense such as signs, lettering of sheriff cars, web blogs, etc. to problems that pale in comparison to many other crime issues is simply mismanagement. It has been stated right here on this blog that the signs are extremely offensive to some citizens, for that reason they should be removed. That is unless giving the due respect to that particular demographic is beyond the sheriffs department therefore remaining an agitant and offensive symbol of disrespect that is quite simply unwise.
Considering census results and USDOJ statistics of which I have year 2000 reports, the bulk of crime in the United States is commited by “blacks”, 53% according to results from the year 2000. As 13% of the population as recorded by the census in the year 2000 it shows “blacks” to be responisble for an obtuse amount of crime. 13% of the population (blacks) commiting 53% of the crime is horrendous. I doubt you would put signs outside of the jail and on sheriffs cruisers that say “Black People Enter Here”.
Ambassador Hog… Thanks for the stats, but I think you may be a little confused. You are the one assigning a race to “illegal Aliens”. I have never read anywhere in here where Sheriff Jones stated that Illegal aliens were any certain race although many others have. He HAS asked Mexico to get control of their side of the border, or at a minimum TRY to stop the flow into the US. They currently do nothing.
But I think the MAIN point is that Sheriff Jones EXPECTS to pay for the housing of criminals that are citizens here. He does NOT feel that he should pay for housing other countries criminals that have snuck in here. I don’t see what your point about blacks has to do with this topic either unless they snuck in across our border?
As for the sign, when I read the story about the Sheriff putting it up, I took it as him using it as a symbolic gesture showing ICE where the illegals are since they can’t seem to find them on their own. You seem to you look at it as a sign telling illegals where to “Report in”.
Here’s a homework assignment for you: I’d like to know what percent of illegal aliens commit crimes in the U.S.
Are you kidding me?! The comments on this website are absolutely shameful.. ignorant and arrogant. This is clearly a redneck forum. First of all, I’d like to know what kinds of crimes these “illegal aliens” are committing? I am an elightened individual and I know that “Americans” who are committing these same crimes are not being targeted in such a hateful way. Does law enforcement not have more important crimes to prevent…like murder, child abuse, etc…. and more violent criminals to go after…instead of those who have come to this country to provide a better life for their families? How have so many forgotten that this country was founded by immigrants who were seeking the same opportunity? These “illegal aliens” are human beings, many of whom are just trying to escape poverty in their own countries. It’s not acceptable to break the law, but it should also be illegal to promote racism, fear and intolerance…and disguise hypocritical, baseless comments by calling them pro-American. Who are you to judge another? Simply because you were fortunate enough to be born on American soil does not make you God.

Immigrants will always be used as targets when the nation faces economic problems, a variable that necessarily translates into crime. Ask the African people who were forced to move to the Americas; research about this topic among immigrants from Germany or Japan; read about migrant Jews, the Italians, the Eastern Europeans, the Irish, all the different people from the Asian nations who have migrated to the United States and you will find that they have had the same experience, being viewed as potential enemies of society. I don’t believe Sheriff Jones is a racist because I can understand his frustration with crime committed by some among the newcomers in Hamilton, legal or illegal; however, I do see him as a public figure that needs to learn how to deal better with that segment of the population he sees as evil. The illegal statue of immigrants is a situation that Washington has to solve at diplomatic levels and this is not the terrain for local public politicians. Mr. Jones, with all the respect, your community needs you as a leader to unite people and not divide them. This forum is teaching us that not everybody is in agreement with your plans. Finally, democracy is too beautiful to use it in a negative matter; even though one should respect the view of the majority, one has to defend the rights of the minority and this is one of the foundations of our nation.
It looks like I made the right choice when voting. My aunt works at Fort[Hamilton-Hughes Hospital] in labor and delivery, and she sees the problem there too. It’s not just the illegals that get caught committing a crime that we have to pay for. They are popping out kids left and right and everytime they have a kid they use a different alias. We pay for the hospital bill, and we pay to raise the kid. It’s getting old real fast, and I’m glad someone is trying to do something about it.
I would like to address Anonymous. I dont believe this is a shameful or arrogant website. I think that what the Sheriff is doing is not racist or ignorant. It is easy for people to say that he needs to focus on the murderers and the child abusers, but think about it. If the Butler County Jail is over capacity with people who are driving without a license and killing people in accidents, where should Sheriff Jones put these other criminals. People in America need to be socially responsible. I think that Sheriff Jones is being very socially responsible on this issue. No one has a free ride in this country. We all work hard and pay our taxes and yet these people dont have to. I am personally tired of driving in fear that an illegal with no license and therefore no insurance, is going to hit me or worse yet hurt me or my family. I am glad that someone is standing up for me and my family. Thanks Sheriff Jones.
Thank you very much for taking a much needed stand on the illegal immigrant issue. I commend you and only wish that other Americans would stand up and do the same.
These people are not coming here to become Americans, learn our language and let our 2 cultures meld. They are not just coming here to jobs we dont want to do. A friend of mine from California has a HOA that hires non-english speaking mexicans who get paid $35/hour to do basic landscaping! I know a lot of americans who would gladly do that for half the wage.
Your actions make me wish that I was an Ohio resident. No, I am not a red neck. I am a real American who has NO other allegiance than to the United States.

I will defend my illegal immigrant not blood related grandson with all I have. He is a kind loving person just like most Americans. He was not luck enough to be born in the USA. I will give him a chance to be the kind of adult we all would like to be. Hands off.
I have a friend that owns his own construction company and I will tell you this. He gets up every morning and drives to West Chester, Ohio and picks up between 15 - 20 Mexicans to work for his construction company and the reason he says he does this is that they work for next to nothing so that the money they make can all be sent back to relatives that live in Mexico. Now you tell me that they are spending their money here, no. They all live together in one bedroom apartments 15 to 20 of them. They stay out all night on weekends drinking and committing crimes. I guess the only money they put back into the United States that they are getting out of it is the very little rent for these 15 to 20 that live in the same apartment and the cost of alcohol they buy to get drunk. I say send all them back to Mexico to feed their families and leave the jobs to the Americans that can take orders in English!!!!!!! You GO Sheriff Jones. Other sheriff departments in Ohio need to take the same stand that you are taking!!!!

Thank you sir for your fine efforts on doing the right thing. You are a true American. I hope you and other will inspire all to get involved in this very important issue for our nation and our posterity. Shut the borders, deport the invaders and no amnesty! I live in Virginia but wanted to let you know you have much support and backing.
I agree with you 100%. I drive a truck for a living and I get so mad!!! when I go to a business smack dab in the middle of the US and no one in the business can speak English.. I ask WHERE ARE WE???? AMERICA OR MEXICO,,,, If people want to come to this country, they should do it legally and must be made to speak and read our language…Since they have opened the borders up for big truck traffic,,some of the over the road drivers cannot speak and will not learn the language of our country,,,this is WRONG!!!! I am with you put them in jail and ship them home..

BRAVO!! I’m so glad I live in Bulter County and the privledge of having a sheriff that will stand up for the American people. I applaud your efforts and PLEASE keep up the good work. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m sick to death of my property taxes increasing year after year for the Schools.
Maybe if we didn’t have to hire so many teachers to teach english as a second language for the children of the illegals our property taxes would stop going up every year. Maybe these businesses that get caught hiring illegal aliens should have to pay a fine that would go to the school districts to help fund the education of the children of their workforce. I saw the protests on TV and most of the protests were chanted in Spanish. Seems to me that these people didn’t come here to be part of America, they came here to take it over.
As far as doing jobs that Americans don’t want, that’s hog wash. EMPLOYERs hire them first because they will work for nothing and most times they are paid under the table. Seems that the only people being discriminated against is the AMERICAN people. Where is the justice in this?
If we boycott the businesses using these people it will send a message to them that we will not tolerate such behavior and that we will not shop or eat at a business that would not hire an American citizen.
thanks for your stand on the illegal immigrants. I came her from England in 1956 and in 1971 became a citizen, but before I could do that I had to prove that I could read ,write and speak English. (I was shocked to put it mildly)I came from England were English is the language. Are all these ‘illegalls’ going to learn English? I wish there were more people like you. THANK YOU for your stand.

They say that Americans won’t do the jobs these illegals are doing. Well if there were no illegals to do them, who would? Americans, of course, and we wouldn’t settle for the low wages. In 1980 a meat packer was paid an average of $19/hour. Today they’re paid $9/hour!!
