Just finished reading the 11/15 Enquirer article about Latino outrage over the Ohio BMV enforcing it’s ID policy with regard to vehicle registration.
Just thought I’d let you know that I appreciate the suport you have lent to this effort to protect all citizens from those (Latino or not) who are abusing vehicle registration.
A few years back oneof my vehicles was involved in a multi car “fender - bender” during an freak ice storm. No one was cited, but a month later the owner of one of the vehicles involved (a latino who failed to produce proof of insurance, a drivers license, or SSN #!) filed a claim with my insurance company for damages to his vehicle and compensation for medical expenses and time off work.
When I tried to file a complaint with the BMV for the violations, I was told ” No SSN for the driver? - no way to file the complaint!” Talk about a catch 22. It was only because I raised such a row with my insurance company about not “roling over” on what seemed to me ro be a fraudulent claim that they investigated futher. Guess what - the person they were paying compensation to for missed time on the job was involved in a second accident in a work vehicle during the time they were colecting for missing work due to injuries sustained.
They ended up lowering my premiums, but it was a discouraging experience. Bravo to you for demanding that everyone live up to the letter of the vehicle laws in Ohio!!
If the latino community is upset, tell them to start policing those in their midst who choose to blatantly ignore our immigration and other laws.
