Sheriff’s Office now sells dog licenses
The Sheriff’s Office now has the ability to sell dog licenses to Butler County residents. Hopefully, this will benefit those needing dog licenses by combining their errands. For example, if you have business at the Sheriff’s Office, you can call ahead and leave your information and our Animal Control Officer will contact you and work out a time to pick up your license while conducting your business at the Sheriff’s Office.
This is just one more service that you may be able to take advantage of. Please visit this web page for all the specific details.

I don’t understand why you took the jail roster off the web site. It was very useful when needed. Is it possible to explain if you don’t mind?
Moderator - We removed the link to the jail roster that was located under “Butler County Sheriff’s Office News”. There is another link on the right side of the homepage as well as in the drop-down menu under “General Information”.
I haven’t seen anything about the Sheriff’s ad in The Venice Cornerstone of Ross Township.
It has often been said that statistics make the greatest liars. While it may be true that the Sheriff has responded to Ross Township calls and have lent their SWAT, road patrol, helicopter service, etc., the ad conveniently fails to mention that Ross has answered calls dispatched to the Sheriff’s office. It also fails to mention that many of these services are supposed to be givens, since they’re all in Butler County. These are services the county is supposed to be lending the smaller areas anyways. The Sheriff makes it sound like by asking for these services, Ross is mooching off of them. If you ask me, it’s slander, especially since the figures are off and are manipulated to sway the opinions of the readers against their local police force.
It is evident that the Sheriff has an agenda. He’s out to get the jobs of the smaller village police forces. He apparently seeks to establish for himself a sort of empire, if you will, over Butler County, breaching the entire idea of local government for his own personal gain. I’ve even heard that the Sheriff intends to make a run for a government seat; surprise, surprise. Who didn’t see that one coming?
Sheriff, no one has a problem if you want to run for office. Go ahead — if you think you can make some changes that are good for Butler County, then by all means. But, in the meantime, stop undercutting the local police to make them martyrs to your ever widening hedge of authority (which has mostly been accomplished by shady methods such as this ad and other shadowed dealings). Respect America’s tradition of local representation — we have local police, because it is the local form of the checks and balances system. Local judicial branch, local legislative branch, local executive branch. The local police are the executive branch. To undermine one is to undermine all. As you move forward, please do so with this in mind.
