Teamwork helps catch illegals!
Just wanted to comment that communications are improving between my Sheriff’s Office and I.C.E.! As of a result of a traffic stop on December 9th deputies discovered what appeared to be a fraudulent Social Security card in the vehicle. ICE was contacted during the investigation to provide their expertise in dealing with these types of situations.
A search warrant was obtained as a result of the investigation. The search warrant was executed on December 15th by Sheriff’s Agents, Deputies, and ICE agents. This search resulted in the seizure of multiple fake identification cards, including Social Security cards! In addition, five individuals were arrested all of which ICE has confirmed to be in this country illegally. Two of the five will be deported by ICE as a result of this action.
This is an example of what can be done right here in Butler County when the resources of ICE and the Sheriff’s Office are combined! ICE has much more resources than we do and their assistance is appreciated.
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned!
Congratulations on a job well done. I’m glad to see you were able to get results from ICE in a reasonable time frame. I have to admit being curious though why only 2 of the 5 are being deported since they were all “illegal”. Are the other three in process to become legal or are there rules involving who can or can’t be deported for various reasons? Again, good investigative work.
I couldn’t help but notice that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement, http://www.ice.gov )has made no mention of this at all on their website under news releases for Cornerstone, Community Shield and Detention and Removal while Indianapolis, Springfield IL, Chicago and Cleveland are listed for less breathtaking events there is nothing about the City of Hamilton or Butler County.
I.C.E. News
this is the community shield news release page, there are others. All devoid of any mention of Hamilton or Butler County.
Maybe when you send them another bill you can ask them to put the “big social security card scam” on the ICE website.
Mike….I think the other 3 will be incarcerated and given trials for the crimes they committed, then serve a sentence if so deemed necessary by a Judge and/or Jury, THEN they will be ready for deportation. (at which point they will probably gladly leave)
I thought (while laughing) that this may be a way for some of the more fanatical of the bloggers here to help catch illegals. Minutemen made the national spotlight a while back and seem to still be at it and would surely welcome new members. I dont think they are endorsed by the Government officially. Since we dont all have ICE on speed dial this this may be an outlet for our frustrations and an alternative to excessive keystrokes.

Sheriff Jones:
I have read some of the articles about you and your work. You are a role model for other Sheriff’s Departments across the nation. I hope they clone you and send you everywhere in this country. Especially in the southern border states that suffer so much from “all” that comes with the illegals. It is about time that people started seeing the COST and high crime rate that comes along with illegals. My ancestors came in the “front door” and that should be the only way we accept any one wanting to live in our country. I live in West Virginia now, but lived in Butler County about 30 years. Hang in there. Good Luck.

One of the points you are not making is that most of them are in jail for crimes that we americans would get a small fine for. I personally have been in the court room several times and know that in Westchester court if your hispanic and your case has any possiable jail time they will put you there when they would give an american a small fine. So maybe the jails wouldn’t be as full with them and our taxes wouldn’t be paying for them if they would treat hispanics fairly in court!
In response to the posting from “Anonymous” on Jan. 21, 2006.
What a load of garbage! It’s obvious from your e-mail that you are, or know, some illegal immigrants. First of all, we’re Americans, with a capital “A” —
Also, it’s West Chester (two words, not one) and the Court you are referring to is Butler County Area III Court.
Also, you make a broad statement claiming the courts treat Hispanics unfairly, but you offer no solid example.
The Sheriff is making a very solid point in the work he is doing — that is that foreign born people who are illegally residing in the United States and who commit crimes (whether felony or misdemeanor) are a financial and social burden for which taxpaying, law abiding citizens (including foreign born legal residents) should not have to pay.
Sheriff Jones simply has the guts to publicly say what the majority of the legal residents in the country are privately thinking.
Keep up the good work, Sheriff!
I totally agree with “Mary”. I don’t have to say it, she has covered it all.
