Stop the illegal flow!
Congress and the Senate were unable to agree on legislation addressing the problem of illegal immigration that would benefit the citizens of this country.
So here we sit five months later STILL without any legislation and I feel it’s safe to assume there will probably not be any legislation until after the 2008 elections; if any legislation is created at all!
It doesn’t need to be so complicated. What needs to be done first and most importantly is stop the influx of illegals coming into this country from all over the world - period.
Until our borders are sealed nothing will work.

I am so glad you are doing something about this problem. I live in Denver. The mayor hired many illegals to work at his restaurants. One of these illegals shot two police officers, killing one. The mayor said he didn’t if the suspect was an illegal or not. This is after the feds had informed him that the suspects Social could not be verified. I have been trying for two weeks now to find someone to do work at my house who is willing to show me a list of verified employees (using e-verify). No takers as of yet. I would gladly pay more for any product or service if I knew that the employees of that company were verified and legal to work in the US. Similar to organic, this would be a new trend in US business that would make a difference.
Your right Sheriff, for once! This do nothing congress has created this monster by allowing the flow of illegals into this country. It is really pathetic the government allowed this to go on for years knowing darn well what was taking place then turn around and blame employers and everyone else for the problems they created. Our own government has failed us yet again and, in its usual fashion, lash out and blame everyone else in America and point fingers at employers when they failed to secure our boarders, protect our idenities, and track down those who produce fake documents to obtain benefits and jobs to unkowing persons or companies. This is the governments screw up and they better take ownership of it instead of making publicity stunt raids on businesses that try to follow the law in an effort to say, “look, we are doing something about this.” If the government would have never allowed the flow of illegals into our country in the first place raids and all the other millions of dollars in taxpayer waste associated with this mess would never had to take place. They did not protect our boarders and look at what we have now!! A broken boarder to go along with our broken government. Think of it this way, If the government secured our boarders, severely prosectuted those trying to enter illegally, immediately deported those found to be illegal, and severerly prosecute those that obtain false documents claiming to be here legally then the governmetn would not have to waste millions of taxper money in raiding businesses, dealing with the crimes they commit etc.. and business would not have inadvertently or knowingly hired illegal immigrants because there would not be any here if the government just did there job. Sad, Really Sad!!!

To all who are keeping up with this site… and the blogs… Have you wondered, or have you even heard that during the last Bust at Koch Foods there were a dozen or more who were locked in the freezer and has to be rushed to the hospital for hyperthermia? Mr. Jones, I know you were aware of this… yet; did you come through with that part of the truth? You have come forward with other tid-bits of this project you were involved in.
Please don’t be blinded by the fact that they are here illegally. Accept the fact that they are here and now we need to do something about it. Best for now and future, Congress needs to step forward and create an exception law (this is not unheard of, after all look at Regan. He did it will in office, he just didn’t put anything in place for the future people wanting to further their lives in the land of the free.)
Think about this, if we were to remove all of the Hispanics from Butler County alone, who is going to pay for the prices which will be raised on everything you see, touch, eat, and so on? After all, companies are not about to lose money due to a shortage of people who are here to purchase. And to all those companies who depend on Hispanic people, (ie: Restaurants, Hotels, Motels, Grocery Stores, and Factories just to name a few) what are they going to do?
You can’t just wave a magic wand and make everyone go back to their originating country. Our economy would crash as well as everything else around us.
I encourage you to have an open mind and educate yourself about the decisions you are making as 2008 elections are coming up quicker than we realize it.

Thank goodness Mexico doesn’t hold a grudge against the United States (remember that little invoice your Sheriff sent??) or who else would we call on to help us with the fires in California? Mexico stepped forward to help us out during this crisis before Ohio did. Where was Sheriff Jones? First, congratu;ations and thank you for the great job at Koch Foods. I have been in the staffing indistry for over 10 years. One change that needs to be made is to the I-9 Form. An employer is not allowed, by law, to ask for a social security card if the applicant shows either a temporary or a perminent alien card. If the potential employer had this information, it be a simple phone call to the SSI to verify the number is correct. Besides which, an American citizen must show both a driver’s license and a social security card and/or birth certicate at the time of the applicant. Why does an American citizen have to show more information that a citizen from another county where the documention is so easily purchased on teh streets.
I agree with Jones on this issue as I have said numerous times on this blog. I dont however see myself as “Hitler” like Jonas put it. I am not a racist by any stretch of the imagination. I am just concerned about the people, of any race, that are here illegally and are not paying taxes, not getting drivers licenses, and not having valid insurance. I care about everyone having to obey the law of this land. If you dont like the fact that you are being treated differently because you are illegal, then start the process to become legal. I understand that the process is extremely long and daunting, but it is YOUR responsibility to do it. No matter how you got here!!

Right now there is noway for an illegal alien to become a legal resident. Even if you have payed taxes, have a good job, no criminal record, have someone willing to sponsor you and have lived in the US for five, ten or more years.
And for all those people that say that illegal aliens should go back to their country and come the “right way” Welll its just almost imposibble to come the “right way” with the current immigration laws, There is a 98% chance that your application will be denied right away and a 1% chance that you will have to wait 15-20 years before you can come to the US for those that have family or jobs in the US.
This is to the staffing agent person who posted that if the employer could get the SS card then they could call to check on it. Well, you need to do your homework Jennifer and I am surprized you do not know that the government offers a free service to check the validty of temporary or permanent resident cards. That free service is called E-Verify and is offered through the Department of Homeland Security. While it is not 100% perfect, it is the best tool available to date. I suggest you read up on it and implement it in your temporary staffing agency. Playing ignorance is no longer an option! To those who sympathize with illegal immigrants just ask the Mercy Fairfield Hospital how many illegals received thousands in medical treatment only to run out on them and stick them and us with the bill! Ask yourself it you like to have your identity stolen and your reputation ruined by an illegal immigrant. Ask yourself why you have to pay income taxes and they pay nothing to support our country. Ask yourself why you have to pay car insurance and follow the rules of the road when they get a free pass. Illegals do not respect our laws and they don’t care about our country. They are here to make money and send it home and when they have enough saved up they leave and retire in their home countires. They do not give a care about this country and are only using it to their advantage. If illegals really want to earn their way to America then I suggest this; go to a local Army recruiter and sign up and go fight for this country in Iraq and Afganistan and earn your right to be in this country. The southwest and California were built in large part by undocumented Mexican immigrants. There was a time when Mexican migrant workers passed freely over the border each season to labor in the Southwest. In that time, Mexicans were an important and welcomed source of cheap labor. At the end of the season, the laborers would return to Mexico. The border was always open for their return, so they had no particular reason to remain in “Alte” California (”Upper” California, as the state was called before the U.S. stole it from Mexico).
Throughout the California Gold Rush, which commenced just months after the U.S. took over California from Mexico, Mexican mule trains were crucial in distributing supplies to mining camps and towns throughout California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. (Incidentally, although the U.S. gave $15 million to Mexico at the close of the Mexican war as a token for the takeover by the U.S. of California, New Mexico and other Mexican provinces, the California Gold Strike produced hundreds of millions of dollars for America, which was equal in value to billions of today’s dollars).
Today, Mexican workers pay sales taxes and work for substandard wages at the ****tiest jobs in the state. Paying illegal workers below minimum wage is very common and results in higher profits for the illegal employer, and therefore higher taxes paid by the employer. End result: worker gets much lower pay (essentially payroll withholding) which results more taxes being paid into the U.S. and State treasuries (due to higher profits for the illegal employers). Many illegal employers know their Mexican laborers are illegal, but nonetheless withhold payroll taxes from their paychecks, and rather than pay those taxes to the government, simply pocket them. Quite often the employer will not realize that the Mexican is illegal, and so will go ahead and withhold payroll taxes and pay them to the government.
Since illegal Mexican workers live in fear of deportation, they rarely seek social services or file for income tax returns for fear of being discovered and deported (the only exceptions are emergency medical care and primary education, the two things too urgent to forgo. It’s no coincidence that California recently passed a law requiring medical care providers and schools to deny services to illegal immigrants - those are the only two social services they use (in spite of the contributions they make to the economy), because those 2 are the only ones they’re willing to risk deportation to use. Justice prevailed - a federal court declared the law unconstitutional).

Myth: Illegal Mexican immigrants are criminals deserving severe punishment.
The typical illegal Mexican immigrant is an honest worker struggling for a better life for himself and his family, not a violent criminal.
In 1995, an article in the San Jose Mercury News reported that it is quite common for families to be divided by the border. For example, the father and one of the sons are legal residents, while the mother and another son are in Mexico and unable immigrate legally. The one father and son cannot afford to give up their jobs in California to return to Mexico, and the rest of the family is unsuccessful at immigrating legally, so the family must live apart.
The anti-immigrant folks never seem to give a second thought to rich U.S. farmers who knowingly employ undocumented workers at sub-standard wages (and in sub-standard conditions). Such employers are a major source of the draw of immigrants into California, but are rarely if ever portrayed as criminals who deserve to be “severely punished”. They are indeed breaking the law by employing undocumented workers, but this law is lightly enforced if at all whereas it is becoming quite fashionable for politicians in America to call for increasing efforts at enforcing laws against illegal border crossings (and for Usenet demagogues to scream for severe punishment of “illegals”).
In my career in California’s high-tech center known as Silicon Valley, I have noticed that the janitors are almost universally Mexicans, and driving through the agricultural areas of California, the laborers breaking their backs in the fields (often covered with carcinogenic pesticides) are mostly Mexican. It seems to me that the Mexicans have really gotten the bottom of the barrel in our society.
So how is it that Mexican immigrants are responsible for all of our economic problems and other troubles, and why all the outrage? To me it bears a chilling resemblance to the way Hitler was able to dupe all of Germany into believing that all their problems were caused by the Jews.
We need to stop being spoonfed our issues by politicians, and stop letting the demagogues push our emotional buttons, and look at the real source of our problems, such as the fact that 50% of what the government collects from us in corporate and individual income taxes is spent on destruction (the military), rather than on building a peacetime social and industrial infrastructure, and a very significant sector of our economy is the “defense” (war) industry, which, unlike peacetime industries, drags down rather than fuels the economy. Why is there no outrage over the fact that the Trident IV first-strike nuclear weapon is still being funded at $300 million a year, when the cold war is long over? Why is there no outrage over the fact that 75% of all international weapons sales are made by the U.S., and 90% of our customers are non-democratic regimes? Why is it that the Mexican worker and welfare mothers are getting all the blame for this country’s problems????
It never ceases to amaze and disgust me to see grown adults blaming Mexican schoolchildren and pregnant women for their economic woes, while monthly Space Shuttle missions costing billions (often on “secret military” missions) are not given a second thought.

Perhaps you should avail yourself of the abundant historical resources regarding immigration to the United States. As you stated, there were other ways to enter the country prior to Ellis Island. Why do you you assume that anyone who entered before the creation of Ellis Island was illegal? Is this a grand assumption on your part?
My ancestors arrived legally in Boston. Perhaps it is time for YOU to apply some knowledge and wisdom. There are more resources than CNN and the Clinton Library. Some non-partisan reading might be in order for you.

I am just sick and tired of the illegals who come to this country and cannot even speak english. Are you kidding me? If i was to travel to another country, i’d make sure i spoke the proper language. My employer, who knows the people he hires are illegal, still employs them. Its crazy. He even pays 1 of them more than the americans who work here. Then once he hires them, he expects his (managers) to fill out the paperwork and sign as an authorized rep. of the company. And again, non of them no english. Argh!!! Send them all back, and make them become legal before allowing them to take our jobs. Its not racism, its the law.
It is so sad that when we apply for a position in Hamilton we must speak Spanish in order to get it. Several offices are only hiring bilingual people.
I am so sick of the children born to the illegals getting free care - we the tax payers are paying for it. We need to stop the illegally born from collecting social services and running up the Emergency Room bills. The health centers care for these families and the medical personel hide the illegals. The illegals have run up the ER bills so much that we that are insured have to pay at least $150.00 to even get in the doors and the cost is rising.
I truly appreciate the Sheriff working hard to stand up for American rights. Please start checking out these places that shelter these illegals and offsprings. Please stop the hiring of spanish speaking - that take away the professional positions of Americans.

Re: The 2 Mexicans killed in the auto accident on Monday (burned to death).
One of these “legal” Mexicans had a work visa, so apparently he WAS working. He also had a Medicaid card in his wallet, which means he was receiving taxpayer funded benefits meant for U.S. citizens.
The Journal reported that he attended Junior High School, yet he was 21 years old, PLUS he had COCAINE in his system.
My question is HOW can an ADULT COCAINE ABUSER attend Junior High School (with CHILDREN) AND qualify for welfare (Medicaid) benefits?
WHO ENROLLED this scumbag in the local Junior High School, and WHO ALLOWED him to receive a Medicaid card? Don’t you have to be drug-free (and a CITIZEN) to receive welfare benefits? Do the PARENTS KNOW that an ADULT drug user is allowed to attend school with their adolescent children?
Whoever did this, should be fired from their positions and criminally prosecuted for WHATEVER charges can be brought against them.

The real problem is not the Mexicans, its the American employers that hire them for their greed.They are the real law breakers.Stop them with BIG fines or prison and the problem will stop.
