Sheriff Jones — June 29, 2007, 4:19 pm

I don’t support the bill!

As many of you know, I have been outspoken about illegal aliens in Butler County and in the country in general. While I was attending the National Sheriff’s Conference in Salt Lake City, I along with several other Sheriff’s, were encouraged by a White House spokeman to support the Immigration Bill that was before the Senate.

I want everyone to know that I did not waiver in my position against any bill that granted amnesty to illegal aliens and couldn’t guarantee the borders would be secured. Below is an article that appeared in the Hamilton Journal News about my meeting in Salt Lake.

HAMILTON, OH

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones said this week he cannot be persuaded to support the currently proposed immigration reform bill. Jones is in Salt Lake City, attending meetings at the National Sheriff’s Association Conference as a member of that organization’s Congressional Affairs Sub-Committee on Immigration. The conference was addressed by US Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, who tried to persuade the association to support the bill, according to the sheriff’s office. Jones also was among a small, select group of about 12 sheriffs who met privately with a justice department official who told the group he was speaking as a White House representative. “I don’t know how the final vote from the National Sheriffs will go,” Jones stated. “But I cannot support what I feel is watered-down legislation and I suspect a good number of the 12 in that special meeting feel as strong as I do. I know the majority of sheriffs attending this conference that I spoke with don’t like it.”

    Go Sheriff!

It is utter lunacy to give any sort of so-called reform to illegals without first securing our borders.

Honestly, if the U.S. gov’t cannot stop over a million people a year from crossing our borders, how are we to believe that they can stop terrorists from entering?

Thank you Sheriff Jones for being the voice of the silent legal majority of Butler County.

Judging by his grammar, Jones is an alien. Let me guess… a mixture of redneck and inbred imbecile ?

I wouldn’t know where to begin. Illegal or not. This hispanic community has no respect for each other much less the rest of us. They call us racist and ride there minority train. It’s funny how they took over my community . Now the local police which used to patrol this area are not patrolling anymore. They play there music loud and fly down the street. After the raid in fairfield several have moved out. Wonder how many more are illegal? Judging by the activity around here I would say alot. Hard working ha ha. NOT! If this is true how do they manage to work from home? I SUPPORT SHERRIFF JONES.

Why they don ‘ t work from home………. There’s no WORK back home……learn, investigate then talk!
I’m sure they’ll be happy to work in their own countries, stay with their families, friends and speak their own language, without being treated like criminals, and living with fear, but there’s no WORK!!!!! for them to do in their own contries

It seems to be a common theme among Sheriff Jones’s critics to minimize the significance of the criminality of illegal immigration, and to imply that that he is somehow negligent in the enforcement of the laws in general for acknowledging this particular variety of criminals. There is little that needs to be said by his supporters, as these critics, with their allegations of racism and other asinine rational, are providing abundant and undeniable cause to support him.
