Employers Take Note

Over the past few months my Office has received numerous information tips and complaints about area businesses and employers that may employ illegal undocumented aliens.

It is important that employers know that it is a violation of federal law to knowingly hire or continue to employ an illegal undocumented alien. However, I realize that some employers may unknowingly have an illegal undocumented alien on their payroll.

Therefore as a public service, I will be sending Deputy Sheriff’s to area businesses and job sites to make the businesses owners aware that information had been received by the Sheriff’s Office regarding businesses possibly employing illegal undocumented aliens. I also want the businesses to know that I will offer assistance in confirming the legal status of any employee that a business may suspect to be an illegal undocumented alien to ensure their compliance with the federal law.

I have assigned personnel from the my Fugitive Division to oversee illegal undocumented alien information and investigations. Their first priority is to seek out and arrest those individuals who have been classified as “Criminal Aliens”. These individuals have been convicted of certain crimes while here illegally.

You can read my press release here.

I just want to thank you. It’s about time that something is done, and it is great to see it happening even though our elected officials sit and do nothing.

    Sheriff:
The more aware we are of who is assisting illegals to remain here by providing them jobs, the more social pressure we can bring to bear on them to stop.
Knowledge is power and thank you for giving us the knowledge.

The first thing I want to know is why the AMERICAN PEOPLE (and I use that term loosely)think they have a right to say who can and can’t come here. When our ancestors first came to this country it belonged to the NATIVE AMERICANS ( the real americans) and we didn’t come here and conform to their way of life or try to adapt to their laws we took this country away from them and killed them. Now they live on reservations. so why do we think illegal immigrates should adapt or conform to our ways and belifes? I think SHERIFF JONES IS A OLD RACIST and would do anything to get headlines. If he really cared about the people of Butler County then he would worry more about the hookers and drug dealer in his back yard ( right on East Ave and surrounding areas) in stead of the illegal aliens. Our half hispanic children are the future of this country and when you deport their fathers who will take care of them? Is Mr. Jones going to take the money he is getting from the government to pay our child support or the 7 BILLION dollars the illegals pay in taxes a year and don’t get back? He so worried about how much money they are getting paid but what about the money its going to cost when all these illegals families go on welfare because the bread winner of the family is gone? the tax payers will be paying a lot more then. These illegal aliens are not taking AMERICAN jobs it just that these LAZY AMERICAN PEOPLE won’t do the work the illegals do. Illegals have no problem working hard because they do it all their life but the AMERICANS expect something for nothing. If Jones is so worried about money why don’t he try to do something about all the people living in the projects living off the hard working tax payers and selling drugs and being on welfare? If AMERICANS want the jobs go get them they are there but they are to lazy to do the work…. If the AMERICAN PEOPLE are worried about the illegals coming here and working for lower wages then why does our government send AMERICAN JOBS over to Mexico and other countries (FOR CHEAPER LABOR) The Illegal immigrates help the AMERICAN economy and when thier gone and all their businesses and the money they spend go with them our economy will go under. People need to stop looking at them as illegal aliens and start looking at them as fathers and husbands that are hard working LATIN AMERICANS taking care of their families. If you really want to get down to it they are the REAL (NATIVE) AMERICANS they heritage is native american. IN the first line of the Declaration of Independance it starts by saying WE THE PEOPLE….. NOT we the Americans, or WE the legals. This country was built on immigration and in my opinion I think the illegals help more than hurt us. I would rather live next to a hispanic then a person from Iraq. Our government makes it easier for the terrorist to come here than people who want the AMERICAN DREAM. We trained the Taliban to fly them planes that killed thousands of people, they didn’t train them to take off or land them planes!!!!!

I’m ashamed of our government and the Sheriff Department!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    for ‘Lisa’
Take the rhetoric out and take a breath.
The issue is not where you are from, or who was where first, or any of the things the liberals and radicals want you to believe.
I believe no one is against anyone coming here to better their lot in life. The issue is doing it legally. Certainly, folks from Mexico get the spotlight, but they are not the only ones who have abused our laws by sneaking in.
We as a sovreign nation have the authority and responsibility to preserve and defend our borders. Just like every other nation on the planet.
A confusing thing about your note is why someone thinks they have the ‘right’ to be here, no matter how they arrive. Reading further, it seems a thinly disguised rant against the President. Some folks just can’t get on with things.
Think with your brain and don’t get caught up in the hysteria over this.
A troubling thing about your note is that you refer to the ‘AMERICAN PEOPLE’ as if you are not a part of our society. Please, if you live here, become involved in it with the rest of us. Become part of the fabric of our country, not a isolated community out of the mainstream. And welcome to you. We all do better the more folks we have working together to make it better.
I don’t want to see this issue become and ‘us’ against ‘them’, whoever ‘us’ or ‘them’ may be. ‘We’ should be working together to fix the issues, not name calling and besmirching ‘their’ reputation and character. You are doing to the Sheriff a great disservice by name calling and race baiting.
The man needs our help, not ridicule.
These are my thoughts and I’m sticking with them.
    Bill

Lisa, get a grip! This is AMERICA. This country is designed to be a melting pot, however everyone needs to do it LEGALLY. I would never prevent anyone from coming to this great country, as long as it is done LEGALLY AND they speak ENGLISH!!!
I praise Sheriff Jones for his hard work. It’s taken a lot of nerve to do what he’s doing and we LEGAL americans need to support him! Great Job Sheriff Jones! It’s about time someone stood up and took a stand.

Lisa - Truly stated like a teenager who has absolutely no grasp on the economical well being of the nation.

Try working, then paying out 19% of your paycheck towards taxes…then realizing that your taxes are paying for the FREE medical costs, FREE education, and WELFARE (FREE RIDE) of these people who bypassed the LEGAL path to enter this country, and CHOOSE to come here illegally…so that they can obtain ALL the benefits of being a LEGAL citizen, without paying the price!

Did you know that it takes roughly 2 WEEKS to obtain a work permit…and pretty much all that is required is that the applicant is not a criminal! Once this permit is obtained, employers are LEGALLY ALLOWED to hire these LEGAL immigrants, who now have the RIGHT to the same benefits of American citizens… They have this right, because they are now paying taxes…just like us!

A majority of ILLEGAL immigrants, DO NOT WANT TO BECOME AMERICAN CITIZENS! Because becoming citizens means that you pay for the right to these benefits. American citizens cannot continue to pay out of their pockets for ILLEGAL person(s) to come here and use up what benefits were created for us.

A quote from Lisa - These illegal aliens are not taking AMERICAN jobs it just that these LAZY AMERICAN PEOPLE won’t do the work the illegals do. Illegals have no problem working hard because they do it all their life but the AMERICANS expect something for nothing.

There isn’t a job around that an American won’t do for a DECENT WAGE.

I’m surprised Lisa had the nerve to call Sheriff Jones a racist, then say she would not want to live next door to a person from Iraq. Excuse me? Not everyone from Iraq is a terrorist. Not everyone from Mexico is here illegally. I feel she has exposed herself as a racist. Sheriff Jones is on the right track in trying to restore some order in our county regarding the amount of people who are here illegally. I realize people want a better life for themselves and their children, but if everyone did whatever they wanted outside of the law, there would be chaos everywhere. Who gets to decide what is justifiable illegal activity? Thank you Sheriff Jones for working to better our county. Keep it up!

I finally see the result of so many activists such as yourself Mr. Jones. With legislation in the works the negative reaction of these illegals will hopefully subside. Its sad theyve been trashing our country for such a long time. I cant complain about your god awful signs outside anymore, it had effect.

Good for you. Now if we could spread the word.

  11. Comment by Melanie @ May 22, 2006, 5:18 am

    Ok Lisa,
I can see your educational level when you talked about “them planes” that the Taliban used. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t we have people that worked in construction, housekeeping, food service, and all the other sectors of the workforce BEFORE the illegals came here? Or did they, being the illegals that are currently taking our construction jobs, sneak in at night and build all of our roads and houses while we weren’t looking??? I remember quite well being a waitress while I was in college, and yes I even have cleaned a hotel room or two in my younger years. These woman that are “married” to illegals or just have children with them, get NO sympathy from the majority of the citizens of this country. If you knew they were ILLEGALLY here, then why would you get involved with them? Just if you were to be involved with any other person who breaks the law you run the risk of them going to jail and then left to raise your children on your own. You made your bed as they say. The only thing that concerns me is that now, because of your ignorance and poor planning, the taxpayers are once again stuck paying for choices that you have made. If you are that concerned about going on welfare then MAYBE you should quit having children that you can’t afford. I know that my husband and I only have one child because THAT IS ALL THAT WE CAN AFFORD!!!!!! With the economy, we can only afford to send one child to college and we can only afford to raise one child with the standard of living that we feel is acceptable. It’s not the taxpayer’s responsibility to raise and pay for poor choices that I might have made…IT’S MINE!!!! And yes, if something were to happen to my husband, I could support my son on my own income, it’s called planning and being responsible. You never know what lies ahead in life.
Maybe you should be more concerned with your fellow American citizens than you are with people who enter our country with absolutely no regard for our laws and legal system.
And one more thing, I have never expected to get “something for nothing” I have worked hard since the day I turned 15. I have always had a job. In fact, as stated before, I have done many of the “jobs Americans won’t do”. I worked hard to put myself through school. I didn’t get a free education because I was “disenfranchised” or because I fit a certain demographic. I worked for everything that I have.
Thank you Sheriff Jones, it’s nice that SOMEONE is standing up for the citizens of this great country.
