American Patriot Award!

The last two days have been interesting! Yesterday I sent a letter to President Bush explaining my position on the illigan alien problem in my county and urged him to reconsider his stance on the “guest worker” program, increase border security, and to expedite efforts to deport those who should not be in this country and my county! A copy ofthe letter can be viewed HERE.

Today, I had the honor of being presented with the 2nd annual “American Patriot award” by Angela “Bay” Buchanan, former Treasurer of the United States under President Ronald Reagan, and current Chairman of Team America Pac. I have a photo gallery of the award presentation HERE.

I suggest checking out their FAQ page, as it seems we have similar views on the Illegal Aliens problem! The word IS getting out there!!

i dont want to nit-pick or split hairs, but i do believe that this county belongs to all of the citizens that live within its borders. You are an official elected to do a job. You were not given this county to be yours and yours alone.

Yes Vinnie, the county does belong to all the citizens that live within it’s borders, however, let’s not forget that an estimated 78% of Mexicans living within these borders are here ILLEGALLY!!!! One immigrant gets in legally and then brings all his relatives over illegally. As the sherriff of this county, it is his responsibility to stop ALL illegal actions whether by a CITIZEN or ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT. They need to be rounded up and sent back to Mexico so that Butler Counties resources, that are intended for it’s legal citizens, aren’t drained to feed, cloth, provide medical care and school not only the adults but all their offspring. Let’s face it, they aren’t known for using birth control……

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County will soon have its own immigration officers.

Federal training began Tuesday for 10 sheriff’s deputies and two sergeants. In about five weeks’ time, they’ll have more power to identify, detain and remove illegal immigrants who go through the jail system.

The training comes from the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It includes “some Spanish, learning the federal laws, a lot of the immigration laws and the deportation process, as well as the screening and some of the documents that some of the illegal immigrants are using to obtain illegal entry into this country,” said Sgt. Quinn Stansell of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Federal training began Tuesday for 10 sheriff’s deputies and two sergeants.
Sheriff Jim Pendergraph estimates that there are more than 350 inmates who are illegal in Mecklenburg County. The new training, which is federally funded, should help reduce that population.

“Every person brought into the system, their alienage will be determined,” said Jeff Jordan of ICE.

Once the criminals are screened and processed, their names, fingerprints and relevant information will go into a national ICE database — a database that will also allow the Sheriff’s Office to spot repeat offenders and anyone who skipped out on an immigration detention hearing.

“My office will have direct access to fingerprints, photographs and all demographic information regarding immigrants,” Pendergraph said during a news conference last month. “We will also have certain enforcement powers regarding the detaining of illegal immigrants and their quick removal from our community.”

Mecklenburg County is the first East Coast sheriff’s office to take part in this training program.

“This will be a model for other agencies throughout the country,” said Robert Hines, another ICE official.

NC has over 400,000 illegal aliens. Most of whom are in Charlotte. Just think, that’s almost a half a million people who live in this great country of our who DON’T have to worry about April 15th!!!! Because of people like Sheriff Jones and Sue Myrick( NC rep.) the powers that be are sitting up and taking notice. I read that Vinnie didn’t want to split hairs. Well, lets split one. There is a great difference between a “citizen” and an illegal alien. KUDDOS for you Sheriff Jones!

  7. Comment by vinnie @ March 17, 2006, 1:06 pm

to all who have responded, relax. you are all reading this the wrong way. I have no problem with getting illegal aliens out of the county. great. I have a problem with one individual, Sheriff Jones claiming that this is “HIS” county. It is our county, the taxpayers county. You deserve to be called such, an owner. Or should we thank him for letting us live in HIS county. I think he should be thanking us for his votes!!!

In response to Vinnie—I know what the Sheriff means by saying that this is “his” county. He is showing that he is sticking up for the residents of this county. He is taking a personal interest in the county that he was voted into to office to represent. If you must know…the Sheriff is also a RESIDENT of this county. So, before you get all upset over him saying this is “his” county…IT IS…get all the info before you make a comment. Thank you Sheriff Jones for taking your job seriously and for making the issues of this county personal issues for you to resolve. This would be a better place to live if more office holders did just that.

I totally agree with Sheriff Jones’s stance on illegal aliens in the U.S. and in our county. I am not a racist person and I have no problem with foreigners coming to America to live and raise families if done legally. I do have another concern that I feel is being overlooked by the people and that is this: have you noticed how many Arabic people are now residing in Butler County. As I said if they are here legally then they have the right. My concern is when I go to a GAS station and there are several usually all male employees and maybe one speaks broken english. I am not comfortable with the people working there constantly on cell phones speaking in Arabic languages and it’s not just once in awhile that this occurs but just about every time I go in. Are these some of the calls that George Bush wants monitored? I hope so!! Go pres!! Go Sheriff Jones!! Please keep this in mind the next time you go to the gas station and fill up. Last time it was jet fuel who’s to say it couldn’t happen right here where we live????

OK OK OK!!! Sheriff, please, I live in Countryside Village and the illegal aliens are out of control here. All of our residents are moving away because of this problem and our community is becoming one that if you don’t speak spanish, then you don’t fit in. I have lived here for five years and in the last year there has been such an increase that no one wants to move in here except them. PLEASE!!!!! Help us!!!!

I don’t understand-why don’t these people get it. Illegal aliens are NOT contributing to this city, county or country – they are taking away from it. Businesses are closing because they cannot compete with other businesses that are hiring illegals for cheap wages. Health care costs are out the roof because illegals are receiving services for free – why – illegals have tons of money. How are they starting businesses, opening stores – someone is backing them and those are the people we need to penalize. Same with landlords that are renting to them. Only 1 family per home – I thought those were the rules for other housing authorities – if not we need to change that – and the sooner the better. We should start taxing all the money they send OUT of this country. If Hamilton had 2000 illegals and they paid the city taxes of $500. a year that would be $1 million dollars – and I think we have more than 2000?? Sheriff Jones is no different than any other citizen defending our county – he just has a better position to have his opinions voiced. I will gladly volunteer my computer services to help Sheriff Jones and others check license numbers, driver’s license or any other documents that are probably false to get a head start on bringing the illegals to justice. Any other citizen must have a valid driver’s license and insurance to drive in this country and illegals are no exception – they should have to pay the fines or loose their vans. And how are they getting a drivers license or license plates – I had to give the license bureau my first born to get a drivers license. Go Sheriff Jones!!!!

This is in response to all the illegal’s living in our county and also Sherriff Jones in general..I feel the same exact way the rest of you feel and I give Sherriff Jones my ut-most respect for all he does for the county. He has changed our county for the good in more ways than one and when he says this is his county he also means his family so to speak that he is taking up for which is “us” and I would vote for him a million times over. I agree that these illegals are using and abusing not only our county but America. With jobs housing and healthcare and I hope Sherriff Jones can help aid us in this problem.I have all the faith possible in this great man and nobody can change my mind on him.. I am behind anything he does and I would stand for him anyday.. Keep up the good work Sherriff Jones we are lucky to have you in our county!!!

I have a suggestion. I hope it’s feasible. Ask your county attorney (and I’m hoping he’s at least aggressive as you are, Sheriff Jones) about the possibility of petitioning for a Writ of Mandamus in U.S. District Court, S. District of Ohio, or a higher court, to have the U.S. Marshal’s Office take over the care of the people you currently have in the county jail, which is a part of the job of the U.S. Marshal’s Office. If the federal court will issue the Writ, you can then go back to the federal court to sue the U.S.A. (if that becomes necessary) for the billings you’ve been sending for the care and feeding of these people, etc.

I recently returned from Iraq after my second tour. How disgusting to come back and see a racist hick like yourself wrap himself in the American flag by arresting some poor sap from Mexico scraping money to send back to his family. Grandstanding idiots like yourself ought to spend their time enforcing local criminal laws and leave small businesses alone.

  15. Comment by Sheriff Jones @ April 11, 2006, 12:12 pm

Val: I appreciate your service to our country. Being as you work for the citizens as I do, I’m sure you are familiar with the “Rule of Law”, which is a significant part of our democracy.

If you are not familiar with the Rule of Law, it is a fundamental component of democratic society and is defined broadly as the principle that all members of society — both citizens and rulers — are bound by a set of clearly defined and universally accepted laws.

    Rule of Law

Now, one of these clearly defined laws is that all immigrants must enter this country legally. Unfortunately, for years this law has been blatently ignored and I, as well as the vast majority of citizens in this country, are tired of it.

To me, if someone breaks a law, ANY law, they are a criminal and I am charged with the responsibility of arresting them, or contacting the agency with the proper authority, as in the case of someone who broke immigration laws.

Under the Rule of Law, I must treat all equally, and yet you are expecting me to arrest only certain criminals. Sorry, criminals are criminals to me.

I must also add that your name calling does nothing to solve this problem.

    Sheriff Jones,
Good for you… Its refreshing to find a law enforcement officer not afraid to enforce the law.Your stand on the illegal alien issue is highly comendable. Is every one else including the President derilict of thier duties, didn’t He take an oath to protect and defend the constitution? Keep up the good work serving and protecting America.

To the comment Tammi made in March about the illegals not using birth control there are a lot of AMERICANS that don’t use birth control either. The illegals work and take care of their families but the Americans sit on thier *** and draw welfare….
