Liberty Township Juvenile Charged With Aggravated Arson
Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that around 5 AM yesterday, the Investigations Division along with Liberty Township emergency crews responded to a residence in Countryside Trailer Park for a 14 year old that had been burned. The juvenile suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his arms and legs. He was transported to Cincinnati Shriner’s Hospital.
A 17 year old male has been charged with aggravated arson, a felony of the 1st degree and felonious assault, felony of the 2nd degree for setting the victim on fire. It is not known at this time what prompted the assault or why this happened. Detective Schuster, lead investigator on the case, stated “the boys are not friends and it appears to be a bullying situation.” The 14 year old does not appear to have life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover. “This is disturbing to say the least, and there are a lot of unanswered questions right now,” said Sheriff Jones.
There could be additional charges and this case remains under investigation by the BCSO Investigations Division.
